Just over a month after opening in theaters, Superman is flying towards your home and bringing a truckload of bonus features with it.
One such behind-the-scenes look that fans can access once the home release of the James Gunn-directed movie drops is a featurette called “A New Era: DC Takes Off.” Entertainment Weekly can exclusively reveal a clip from that bonus piece (shown above).
Gunn and Peter Safran, who co-head DC Studios together, appear in the clip, which gets into how Superman launches a new era of the DC Universe on screen across movies and TV. Cast members such as David Corenswet (Clark Kent/Superman), Rachel Brosnahan (Lois Lane), Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor), Nathan Fillion (Guy Gardner/Green Lantern), and Isabela Merced (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl) also address the ambitious plan.

“I think we’re making some really cool stuff that’s gonna be worth waiting for and worth getting hyped about,” Corenswet says. “This is a new Superman, a new phase.”
“The bar is high, pressure’s on, but this team is ready to rise to the challenge,” Brosnahan adds.
Fillion notes, “We’re at the forefront, on the front lines.”
Superman will first be available on digital retail platforms this Friday, Aug. 15 — including on Amazon Prime Video, AppleTV, and Fandango at Home — followed by a release on 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and DVD starting Sep. 23.

Superman picks up in the midst of Clark Kent/Kal-El’s run as the Man of Steel, Earth’s strongest metahuman. As the hero becomes embroiled in conflicts both foreign and domestic, tech billionaire Lex Luthor implements his plans to do away with Superman for good.

Coming up on the DCU’s lineup are Peacemaker season 2 on HBO Max (Aug. 21), Supergirl in theaters (June 26, 2026), Lanterns on HBO Max (currently filming), and Clayface in theaters (starting to film later this year).
“It was important to really put the best foot forward with DC and DC Studios, and that was to start with Superman,” Gunn reflects in EW’s sneak peek at the bonus feature. “He’s the first superhero,” the filmmaker adds. “He’s an incredibly important character to DC. And there’s a trinity — Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman — but you’ve seen a lot more of Wonder Woman and Batman over the past few years than we have of Superman.”
