Mingus Reedus, the son of The Walking Dead franchise star Norman Reedus and model Helena Christensen, has pleaded not guilty to a series of charges stemming from an alleged altercation with a woman on Saturday.
The younger Reedus pleaded not guilty to all five charges, including the primary third-degree assault charge, during a court appearance later the same day, according to records reviewed by Entertainment Weekly. He is expected back in court on Aug. 26.
Mingus was arrested on Saturday around 8:40 a.m. in Manhattan following an alleged altercation that took place the night before with a 33-year-old woman. He was ultimately charged with third-degree assault with the intent to cause physical injury, as well as four other counts, including criminal obstruction of breathing, aggravated harassment in the second degree, harassment in the second degree, and a reckless third-degree assault.
“Despite what the prosecutor said in court — which is not evidence — they chose to charge Mingus with misdemeanors or less,” Reedus’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, told Entertainment Weekly. “This speaks volumes, and much louder than the unsupported prosecutor’s in-court comments.”

Chaudhry continued, “Equally important, the judge released Mingus on his own recognizance, with neither bail nor supervision. That significant judicial decision amplifies the volume. Mingus is presumed innocent and has pled not guilty. As the facts emerge, his innocence will become clear.”
The victim of the alleged assault has been given court-ordered protection against Reedus, according to TMZ. The unnamed 33-year-old woman alleged that Reedus placed both his hands around her throat and began to forcefully squeeze it, hit her right leg with his fist, and threw her to the ground, the website reported.
In a video capturing his arrest that was shared on by the New York Post on Saturday, Reedus characterized the altercation as “a misunderstanding.”

This is the second time the 25-year-old model has faced an assault charge.
Back in 2021, Mingus was charged with misdemeanor assault following an alleged altercation with a 24-year-old woman, who told police at the time that she sustained an injury under her left eye.
The woman and her friends “swarmed” Mingus and his friends at a street festival, he told The New York Daily News, causing him to be “afraid for the safety of my group.” His charge was ultimately lowered to disorderly conduct, and he accepted a plea deal. Reedus was then given a conditional discharge and ordered to attend five private counseling sessions.
Mingus is the actor and Christensen’s only child. The former couple welcomed him in 1999, before splitting up in 2003. Norman also shares a 6-year-old daughter Nova with his longtime partner Diane Kruger.
