Week 2 has ended in the Tar Heel State, and NCPreps will continue to recognize a team in each of the eight regions of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association. Here are the representatives for the eastern parts of the state in Regions 1 through 4:
REGION 1: D.H. Conley
The Vikings are one win away from their best start since 2012 after earning their first-ever victory over Northeastern, 34-19. Senior quarterback Samari Cabell continues to impress with his 6’4” frame, throwing for over 200 yards and accounting for three total touchdowns (two passing, one rushing).
REGION 2: Southwest Edgecombe
The Cougars picked up a statement win over perennial eastern power Hertford County. The programs have met only twice, and Southwest Edgecombe has won both matchups. Rolling into Week 3 against Tarboro, SWE looks like one of the toughest teams in the east.
REGION 3: Midway
The Raiders’ super sophomore running back Wesley Tew exploded for 231 yards and three touchdowns on just 15 carries. Midway’s 2-0 start includes back-to-back wins over Clinton after losing 11 straight in the series. This marks the Raiders’ first 2-0 start since 2020.
REGION 4: Seventy-First
The Falcons delivered a bounce-back performance that many expected to see. After falling in their opener, Seventy-First rolled past Cape Fear, which had been coming off a 42-0 win over Douglas Byrd in Week 1.
