Former nurse accused of taking controlled substances from Franklin nursing home residents
WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A former nurse is facing charges in Williamson County following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Medicaid Fraud Control Division.
The TBI said special agents, acting on a tip from the Tennessee Department of Health, started investigating Elizabeth Rainwater on Nov. 15, 2024.

Over the course of the investigation, authorities said they learned Rainwater surrendered her Registered Nurse license in August 2024 as part of a plea deal, but she kept working as a nurse at a Franklin nursing home until Sept. 10, 2024. During those weeks, Rainwater allegedly diverted controlled substances — including opioids — from residents at the facility.
According to officials, a Williamson County grand jury indicted the 54-year-old on June 4, charging her with one count of impersonating a licensed professional and 19 counts of fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance.
