Gary Wordham has been tapped to serve as the new president of physical production at Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group.
He joins the company from Universal Pictures, where he oversaw all aspects of physical production over his 18 years at the studio, including for the two most recent installments in the “Fast & Furious” series of films, as well as “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” “Jason Bourne,” “The Mummy,” “Girls Trip,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Bridesmaids” and “Savages.” He recently managed the two “Wicked” films, as well as next year’s Christopher Nolan epic, “The Odyssey.”
Wordham will begin his new role at Warner Bros. in October. He joins the studio as it is on a hot streak, releasing hits like “Sinners,” “Weapons,” “Superman” and “The Conjuring: Last Rites,” which recently overtook “It” to become the top horror opening in history.
“Working in close partnership with filmmakers and studio leadership, he will help deliver films from across the Motion Picture Group, leading global day-to-day physical production operations, including postproduction and VFX,” the studio’s co-heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy wrote in a memo to staff. “We are thrilled to have Gary join our team, and we hope you’ll join us in offering him a warm Warner Bros. welcome,” they added.
Wordham is a 30-year veteran of the motion picture industry, and has held varied production roles on numerous films in locations across the world. His production career has taken him to “ten U.S. states, four Canadian provinces, the Czech Republic, England, Italy, Thailand, Germany, the Canary Islands, Portugal, and Namibia, among others.”
