Flying is pretty scary these days, so many people are simply choosing to stay home. The worst thing about this is certainly that they no longer have access to Barf Bag Facts, the fun and informational series of tidbits printed onto air sickness bags. But fret not, here are several recent favorites that even people with no motion sickness problems at all seem to enjoy!
The first barf bag was conceived of and designed by minor league croquet sensation Irvins Chorgle after becoming suddenly ill and throwing up into his infamously ill tempered wife’s stylish, expensive purse at a well attended charity disco night.
Passenger Olaf DeBergi of Owls Taunt, Nebraska, once became ill on a flight, and so used a barf bag. Later while watching a Tim Allen movie on the plane’s tv screen, he protested his boredom by emptying the bag’s contents onto the screen. Moments later, he was sucked out of a malfunctioning side door before anything could be done. Look it up, man, look it up.
Back in the late nineties, a series of collectible barf bags featuring illustrations and profiles of popular Star Wars characters were all the rage with completist fans, which ultimately led to several eBay sellers being charged by the postmaster general for sending used barf bags through the US mail.
Prior to the implementation of barf bags in most major airlines, airsick passengers were asked to roll down their own windows and vomit outside.
While on an early morning flight to Albuquerque while touring, beloved musician and mysterious persona Prince jotted down the very first lyrics that would eventually become Raspberry Beret onto a barf bag! This priceless item was a prized possession of The Rock N Roll Museum until a teacher shepherding a group of second graders noticed an ill child among the crowd and made an understandable but very tragic mistake.
