October is here, and the 2025 MLB playoffs are underway. The 12-team bracket is set, and the postseason got started on Tuesday with four Wild Card Series Games: Guardians vs. Tigers, Cubs vs. Padres, Yankees vs. Red Sox and Dodgers vs. Reds. The Dodgers are the first to advance after sweeping the Reds, which means they’ll move on to face the Phillies. The Blue Jays, Mariners, Brewers and Phillies all earned byes and will start their postseasons on Saturday in the League Division Series.
For the first time under the current playoff format, we’ll see at least three Game 3s on Thursday. Cleveland beat Detroit 6-1 on Wednesday to force a do-or-die game between the AL Central rivals. The Padres then did the same against the Cubs with a 3-0 win, while the Yankees outdueled the Red Sox 4-3 and sent their AL East matchup to Game 3 as well.
The best-of-three Wild Card Series are being held from Tuesday to Thursday, and the LDS round will kick off on Saturday.
