Mia Galuppo, film writer at The Hollywood Reporter, has been promoted to senior entertainment reporter, THR editor-in-chief Maer Roshan announced on Monday.
During her decade at the magazine, Galuppo has covered rising and established Hollywood talent, international film festivals and emerging industry trends, including a recent award-winning cover story on the state of Hollywood’s diminishing and drained young workforce. Galuppo has profiled breakout actors, leading filmmakers and the executive ranks across the industry. She is a regular presence at film festivals, helps guide the magazines Next Gen franchise and moderates the annual producers awards season roundtable. Galuppo’s stories have won Los Angeles Press Club awards, and her byline has also appeared in Vice and GQ.
“Mia represents the best of a new generation of Hollywood journalists — smart, fearless and deeply connected to the changing business of film,” says Roshan. “We’re excited to see her continue to help shape THR’s next chapter.”
In her new position, Galuppo will continue to break news and write in-depth features for both THR’s print magazine and website, as well as booking and moderating panels and roundtables.
In recent weeks, THR has made several staff promotions and hires, including the elevation of David Katz to editorial director and the hiring of former Vanity Fair correspondent David Canfield as senior entertainment writer and Nick Ducassi as director, social creative and video production. The publication has also earned a National Magazine Award, an L.A. Press Club honor for best website, multiple Daytime Emmy nominations for its Off Script roundtable series, and a growing list of SoCal Journalism and Webby nods.
Galuppo will continue to report to film editor Aaron Couch.
