Every person who dreams of going on Survivor also dreams of hearing host Jeff Probst mutter those magic words to them: “Welcome to Survivor.” What they may be slightly less enthused to hear, however, is the host mercilessly mocking them during a challenge.
While long gone are the days of the Hostmaster General delivering his harshest critiques to poor performances, he’s still known to throw out a well-placed jab when he sees someone really struggling during a competition. And according to the host, the cast of the current Survivor 49 threw some jabs right back at him.

“You’re going to see more of that this season,” Probst previously told Entertainment Weekly. “There will be more of those conversations that happen before a challenge starts or after a challenge ends. They’re the kind of conversations we don’t always show, but when those conversations reveal character about the players, then we try to find time to include them in the episode.”
This Survivor 49 challenge tomfoolery actually began before the season even started filming. That’s because EW asked the Survivor 49 cast before the game to consider how Probst might make fun of them during an immunity challenge, and then give us a performance as to what that might look and sound like. And it turns out what it looks and sounds like is… awesome.

There’s the one player who worries about being called out as a salsa dancer losing her footing, the contestant who foresees being mocked as a “pale Gumby,” and the military veteran who could see being targeted because she “went through basic training but still can’t make her way through this basic challenge.”
And then there’s the person who fears that his lack of diving ability could lead to some mocking from the host, to which I say: Don’t worry, Jason — if Probst doesn’t get you on that one, I surely will.
