“Monster: The Ed Gein Story” is currently the No. 1 show on Netflix, according to the streamer’s public ranking system.
The latest installment of the true crime anthology series, from Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan, follows the godfather of serial killers: Ed Gein, the notorious murderer whose crimes inspired notable horror films like “Psycho,” “The Texas Chain Saw Massacre” and “The Silence of the Lambs.”
In the show, Charlie Hunnam portrays the real-life killer and grave robber during the 1950s in rural Wisconsin, where his hidden house of horrors — full of disturbing items made of human remains — was “so gruesome it would redefine the American nightmare,” the season’s logline reads.
Also starring in the series are Tom Hollander, Laurie Metcalf, Suzanna Son, Vicky Krieps, Olivia Williams, Lesley Manville, Addison Rae, Joey Pollari, Charlie Hall, Tyler Jacob Moore, Mimi Kennedy, Will Brill and Robin Weigert.
