WME and Group Effort Initiative are linking arms for the next installment of NXT Industry Sessions.
The free virtual program — designed to “democratize access to the entertainment industry by providing industry insights and networking opportunities,” per the agency — is set to unspool Oct. 27 and run through Nov. 21. The program features speakers across the media landscape. It will include case studies, quizzes, an industry terminology handbook and live Q&As, offering students the opportunity to engage directly with entertainment industry executives.
While the full roster of speakers has yet to be revealed, WME confirmed one name that is sure to inspire some traction among participants — Group Effort co-founder Ryan Reynolds.
“Group Effort Initiative has always been about opening doors for people who haven’t traditionally had access to this industry,” said Sumi Parekh, executive director of Group Effort Initiative. “NXT extends that mission, and we’re proud to partner with WME to help the next generation of storytellers see themselves in this business and build real careers.”
“We are incredibly proud of the scale NXT has reached, in addition to it becoming a vital resource for aspiring professionals looking to pursue meaningful careers at WME and beyond,” said Hilary Fennessy, vp of WME’s impact, inclusion and advocacy team. “We are grateful to have a longtime partner in GEI who shares our commitment to making the entertainment industry more accessible and representative of the next generation.”
After completing NXT, participants will be invited to an in-person networking and career day hosted at WME’s offices in New York and Los Angeles. The program for career day will feature panels, mock interviews and networking opportunities. Registration is now open.
