The director of the Louvre on Wednesday told the French Senate there was “insufficient” security camera coverage at the instutution and that she had offered her resignation – which was refused by France’s culture minister – after an audacious heist on Sunday saw thieves break into the museum and steal €88 million worth of jewels.
