She speculated whether the move was linked to host Stephen Colbert’s persistent criticism of the president, or his condemnation of Paramount Global, CBS’s parent company, for settling a lawsuit with Trump.
“Was it a coincidence that CBS canceled Colbert just three days after he spoke out?” Warren wrote in the article, published on Wednesday.
“Are we sure that this wasn’t part of a wink-wink deal between the president and a giant corporation that needed something from his administration? If CBS made this decision for ‘purely financial’ reasons, why the timing? And why did Trump say ‘I hope I played a major part in’ getting Colbert fired?”
The politician said these were “fair questions,” and ones she’s directed toward Paramount and the company it hopes to merge with, Skydance. The merger will only go through if it is approved by the Trump administration.
Warren also wrote about the various ways Trump has used threats and lawsuits as a means to funnel money and gifts to his presidential library, and called him “the most corrupt president in American history.”
She said that people “must show Trump that we see his march toward authoritarianism and we will not be silenced.”
“All Americans need to speak up,” Warren wrote. “Because yes, it’s a shame that CBS canceled ‘The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,’ but it is a threat to all of us that the top late-night show in the country may have been canceled in order to curry favor with a wannabe king.”

The network said the decision to ax the program was not related “in any way to the show’s performance, content or other matters happening at Paramount.”
