Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is showing love to one of sports media’s brightest stars. After Taylor Rooks shocked fans with a surprise wedding announcement on Instagram, Reese joined a chorus of voices congratulating the beloved sports reporter.
“Congrats beautiful 😍🥺,” Reese commented on Rooks’ wedding post, which featured photos from the intimate ceremony.
Rooks, 33, stunned the sports world on Wednesday night when she shared that she had gotten married. Known for her work with Amazon Prime’s NFL broadcasts and formerly with TNT Sports, Rooks has kept her personal life extremely private.
“What a night. This is love 💍,” Rooks captioned her post, sharing several photos in a wedding dress, alongside her mystery husband identified only as Shane. Her groom's name was spotted on the wedding dinner menu, but no further details have been confirmed.
Reese’s message was one of many warm reactions from celebrities and fellow sports reporters.
“Love conquers all!!!! I love you ❤️❤️❤️ I’m so happy for you both!! Best wedding ever!!!!” LaLa Anthony wrote.
ESPN's Malika Andrews added, “You both look soo happy!! Wishing you a lifetime of that joy, newlyweds!! 🤍”
Other public figures who chimed in included tennis star Coco Gauff, who commented, “Congratulations ❤️❤️❤️❤️,” and NFL reporter Charissa Thompson, who said, “You deserve it all! Loved celebrating your love ❤️.”
The ceremony, held in New York City, was star-studded. Guests included Kevin Durant, Draymond Green, Jack Harlow, Donovan Mitchell and Saquon Barkley. Photos showed Rooks dancing with Green and smiling with friends. Former Fox Sports host Joy Taylor appeared to be one of the bridesmaids.
Reese and Rooks have shared mutual support before as well. Back in March, after Rooks posted photos at the Unrivaled semifinals, Reese commented, “So fineeee.”
Moreover, after a February postgame interview, Reese posted a photo with Rooks saying “MY GIRLLLLLL,” to which Rooks replied, “ALWAYS! You know it.”
Rooks recently announced her exit from TNT Sports and Bleacher Report after seven years and is expected to take a leading role in Amazon Prime’s new NBA coverage launching in 2025.
