Bijan Robinson Drops Bombshell Fact That Everyone’s Been Getting Wrong originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
Former Texas Longhorns running back Bijan Robinson has the fourth-most career rushing yards in school history, at 3,410.
After leaving his mark on the program, he took his talents to the NFL, where he was drafted eighth overall by the Atlanta Falcons in the 2023 NFL Draft. He has hit the ground running since going pro, rushing for 2,432 yards and 18 touchdowns.
Robinson is entering his third year in the NFL, but revealed that people have not been pronouncing his name the right way. As a part of the NFL’s “Back Together Weekend,” Robinson shared that his name is pronounced (Bi-jahn), not (BEE-jahn).
“Alright, how you pronounce my name is Bijan,” Robinson said. “For everybody that’s out there. I know a lot of people say Bijan, but it’s Bijan.”
Robinson is not the only Texas legend to speak publicly recently, with former Longhorns quarterback Vince Young appearing on a recent episode of “The Triple Option” to discuss the 2005 National Championship Game.
Young broke down his touchdown run that won the game for Texas to secure the program’s fourth all-time national title.
Podcast member Urban Meyer shared his thoughts on the upcoming game between Texas and the Ohio State Buckeyes. Meyer believed Ohio State had the advantage because of star receiver Jeremiah Smith.
Smith led the Buckeyes in receiving yards (1,315) and the Big Ten in receiving touchdowns (15) as a true freshman in 2024.
The Falcons are moving on with second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. as the starter following Kirk Cousins’ benching last season. Cousins started the first 14 games for the franchise last season before Penix was named the starter for the remainder of the year.
It seems Robinson will have a new quarterback and pronunciation for his name this season.
