Calvin Harris And Vick Hope Welcome Baby Boy

Music producer Calvin Harris announced the birth of his first child in a way that caught some social media users by surprise.

Harris and his wife, Vick Hope, welcomed a baby boy named Micah last month — and the new father recently celebrated the auspicious occasion on Instagram.

“20th of July our baby boy arrived,” he wrote in a post on Monday. “Micah is here! My wife is a superhero and I am in complete awe of her primal wisdom! We love you so much Micah.”

The post included a carousel of photos documenting Hope’s home water birth, but a few of them took social media users by surprise. The fourth photo in the series shows her placenta, followed by photos of the placenta apparently being dehydrated and put into gel capsules.

“What is that on last 2 photos? And why???,” one user asked.

Another person commented: “Swiping: Oh wow!…. That’s amazing….. Congratula….. WHAT THE FUCK!?”

And though many commenters expressed shock, there was also some positive reinforcement in the mix. Some people celebrated the raw beauty of new life, exclaiming that this was a normal part of life that people should be accustomed to.

“Congratulations! Thank you for normalising home birth (and placentas!) with these beautiful pictures. What a dream,” one person wrote.

Another said that this might be Harris’ “best production ever.”

Harris and Hope tied the knot in 2023.
