When the Kansas City Chiefs selected Ohio State Buckeyes offensive lineman Josh Simmons with the No. 32 pick in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft, some experts and pundits doubted his ability to start as a rookie.
But, in limited action during the preseason, Simmons excelled as Kansas City’s starting left tackle.
According to the experts at Pro Football Focus, Simmons managed to avoid allowing a single pressure in 26 total pass-blocking snaps. PFF gave Simmons an 84.1 pass-blocking grade for the preseason, a mark that is particularly impressive given that his viability as a starter was in question when the Chiefs initially drafted him.
While his success in exhibition contests hardly guarantees that Simmons will be able to achieve such outstanding results in the regular season, his efforts are nonetheless commendable and a great sign for his development as a left tackle.
Stay tuned to see how Simmons will fare when Kansas City faces off against the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 5.
