The “Dead to Me” actor, who publicly announced her diagnosis in 2021, recently opened up about a “knife to the heart” comment from her 14-year-old daughter, Sadie.
Applegate said the two “got into a big thing the other day” and her daughter told her, “I missed who you were before you got sick.”
“That is just like a knife to the heart because I miss who I was before I got sick too. Very much,” Applegate said as she got emotional. “Every day of my life is at such a loss.”
The “Anchorman” actor has opened up before about her struggle to accept her diagnosis.
“I’m angry at it still, and there’s a lot of us out there who are newly diagnosed that are not quite ready to accept this reality,” she said on Hoda Kotb’s podcast, “Making Space,” in April. “I keep thinking that I’m just going to wake up from this nightmare, and it’s just going to be over.”

“It’s been a tough road,” Applegate added. “But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some asshole blocks it.”
