Drew Barrymore is pitching herself for a unique role in Rob Reiner’s next movie.
The Music and Lyrics actress expressed her desire to play a “bitch” in a movie directed by the filmmaker when he visited The Drew Barrymore Show on Thursday.
The conversation came up after Barrymore showed a pre-recorded clip of recent talk show guest Jennifer Aniston detailing her experience shooting Reiner’s 2005 film Rumor Has It and her hopes to work together again in the future.

“If she wants to make another movie with you, can I please be in that movie?” Barrymore asked as Reiner laughed. “Like, I wanna work with you so bad. I will be your clay, mold me!”
And no, she’s not joking. “I would give anything to hear your wisdoms, insights,” Barrymore declared. “I can’t imagine a greater honor than getting to be directed by you.”
Reiner — who directed classics like Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, Spinal Tap, and When Harry Met Sally — appeared interested in the prospect of directing Barrymore onscreen.
“If you were to play something, what character do you see yourself [playing]?” he asked. “What was a part that you haven’t done the you would think, ‘I would love to play that kind of character?'”
Barrymore hesitated for a moment. “Well, I don’t know how you’ll feel about this, but I would love to be a bitch,” she confessed as the audience applauded.
“Really?” Reiner remarked, prompting Barrymore to reply, “Yes! I want to play like a Black Dahlia or something, some femme fatale. Something I’m so not. Cause that’s what life is; it’s such a mixed bag.”
Reiner, in turn, suggested a potential “film noir” project for the pair and seemed interested in the idea. “Well, I’ll try,” he said.
Barrymore has played the bad guy in several films throughout her career, most notably in the 1992 cult classic Poison Ivy; however, she tends to play more good-hearted heroines instead, like a crime-fighting private investigator in Charlie’s Angels and an adventurous princess in the Cinderella adaptation, Ever After. Maybe it’s time for her official villain era?
The Drew Barrymore Show airs weekdays on CBS.
