EASTENDERS legend Sharon Watts’ much-anticipated return date has been revealed by soap super fans.
Sharon, played by Letitia Dean, hasn’t been seen in the Square since January, but her big comeback is just days away.
The soap stalwart was spotted by eagle-eyed viewers in a recent trailer for the programme’s dramatic autumn episodes.
Now, armchair sleuths writing in a fan forum are claiming she will be back in Week 38, which begins on September 15.
It ties in with another fan who said in late July that Sharon would be back on the soap in “six to eight weeks’ time”.
Enders viewers have called it “fantastic news” and are excited for what’s to come.
One posted: “As much as I’ve desperately missed Sharon and Letitia’s presence on the show, the break has really reinvigorated my love for the character and I’m really hyped for her return. It almost feels like she’s starting a brand new stint.”
Speculating on what storylines bosses could have in store for her, another shared: “Give her a new husband who turns out to be KEANU’S DAD!
“I think this would be an incredible storyline. Plus it’d actually be a pretty decent justification for getting rid of Bernie, who’d obviously know who he is already. If Shane (as he’s been previously named) found out the truth from Bernie off-screen, it’d make a lot of sense.”
Last month, Sharon was spied on-screen in the first look at Zoe Slater’s comeback.
Sharon left Walford at the beginning of the year to visit her friend Michelle in Australia, 12 months on from after a dramatic Christmas storyline which saw her ex Keanu Taylor stabbed to death by Linda Carter.
Linda came to Sharon’s aid as Keanu strangled her in a fit of rage in a row over the paternity of Albie Watts.
In the latest soap trailer, Sharon was seen alongside Patrick Trueman as they shielded themselves from the rain under an umbrella, while watching Zoe’s big return.
Zoe’s comeback scenes have already reunited her with mum Kat and she was shot after catching a stray bullet after a fight broke out between Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) and Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara).
Two decades ago, the Slater sisters, as they were then known, took Albert Square by storm.
Young Zoe fell out with protective Kat, played by Jessie Wallace, and in one of the show’s all time great moments declared: “You can’t tell me what to do.
“You ain’t my mother.”
Kat famously screamed back: “Yes I am!”
The plot twist revealed Zoe — who was brought up believing Kat was her sister — was actually her daughter.
Zoe would later leave the Square in 2005 following the death of Den Watts, Sharon’s adoptive father.
Discussing her decision to leave the soap at the time, Michelle said: “I’ve always taken chances. I think that’s how you progress.”
Since then, she has appeared in several films, including 4.3.2.1. and Cockneys vs Zombies.
She has also had guest roles in BBC shows Doctor Who and Merlin.
