The Pittsburgh Steelers parted ways with the talented yet disgruntled WR George Pickens a few months ago — a move he believes was important for his career.
On Friday, NFL Network’s Jane Slater interviewed Pickens and asked the former Steeler to compare his Pittsburgh exit to Micah Parsons’ trade to the Green Bay Packers — and this was his response.
“It was good for me,” Pickens said. “Just strictly because, you know, when you’re somewhere long and you build a certain record, a certain label — whether that’s good, great, or bad — you just want a fresh start. That’s how I feel like it is with a lot of people in life.”
A fresh start for both parties was no doubt the best option moving forward — as Pickens’ talents were being wasted on the revolving door of Pittsburgh quarterbacks, while his immature antics had undoubtedly worn thin with the Steelers organization.
Traded to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick and a late-round pick swap on May 7, Pickens now forms one of the NFL’s best wide receiver duos alongside All-Pro WR CeeDee Lamb — while the Steelers will lean on the connection between WR DK Metcalf and QB Aaron Rodgers this upcoming season.
