Florida football’s disappointing start to the 2025 season has intensified scrutiny around Billy Napier’s future, and the Florida Gators head coach confirmed Monday that those conversations are happening regularly behind closed doors.
Napier told reporters during his weekly press conference that he meets with athletic director Scott Stricklin every week as the program searches for answers following a loss to Texas A&M and a 2-4 record in the middle of October.
“Yeah, we meet every week,” Napier said. “You know, have a chance to catch up about what’s going on. And I think that he’s a great teammate. And we know it’s not good enough. No one loves to lose. I think we’re identifying areas we can improve and things we need to do better.”
Offensive inconsistency has been a recurring issue, and Napier admitted that internal conversations are focused on fixing those problems before the season slips further away.
“You know, it’s much like any production business,” Napier continued. “There’s things you’ve got to do better to get a better result. So nothing more than that. We all know what the job is, wake up every day and go do your job. That’s the way I view it.”
While Napier framed the meetings as standard practice, their significance carries more weight as fan frustration has reached a boiling point and national speculation about his job status grows louder.
The margin for error has shrunk, and improvement needs to happen fast if Napier hopes to keep the program moving forward under his leadership.
