Sam Richardson, Sofia Black D’Elia, David Cross and Arturo Castro have joined the cast of “Into the Sky,” a new sci-fi comedy thriller from Thunderbird Ventures, The Viste Corp., Ace of Farts Productions and Witchcraft Motion Picture Company. The film is helmed by Drew Mylrea and Evan Wolf Buxbaum, who also co-wrote the film.
According to the official logline, “The film follows Richardson, as he desperately tries to reconnect with his estranged wife — but keeps getting abducted by aliens.”
Other cast members include Jonathan Rudnitsky, Annabel O’Hagan, Madeleine Cornman-Alexandera and Jon Bass.
“[‘Into the Sky’ is] a shot of adrenaline with a dash of romance,” said Mylrea and Buxbaum in a joint statement. “Reminiscent of the big popcorn flicks of the 90s that made us want to make films, it’s equal parts thrilling and unexpected. Basically, it’s the kind of movie we want to watch.”
The film marks Mylrea and Buxbaum’s feature debut as a directing duo. Previous directing credits for Mylrea include the series “Small Town, Big Story,” and features “Last Survivors” and “Spy Intervention.” Buxbaum has mostly worked as a producer outside of co-directing “Small Town, Big Story” with Mylrea. His producer credits include “Bubble & Squeak,” “The Fisherman” and “Creep Box.”
“Into the Sky,” which just wrapped production in New York, is targeting a 2026 release date. Discussions with potential sales partners are currently underway.
