Jason Momoa is shedding one of his most distinctive features for his role in the upcoming “Dune” film ― and he isn’t too happy about it.
The “Aquaman” actor, whose long hair and beard are part of his signature look, recently shared a video of himself on Instagram shaving off his facial hair for the role.
The video also served as an ad for his recyclable aluminum water bottle company, Mananalu, and to bring awareness about the harm of single-use plastics.
“It has been about six years — maybe a little bit more — since I did ‘Dune,’” the actor said.
“Aw man,” Momoa said, laughing as he shaved off half of his beard. “God damn it, I hate it.”
Despite not loving his clean-shaven look, the actor said he did it for the film’s director, Denis Villeneuve.
“Only for you, Denny!” Momoa said.
“I’m SHAVING this beast off, it’s time to make a change,” Momoa wrote at the time. “A change for the better … for my kids, your kids, the world. Let’s make a positive change for the health of our planet.”
Pedro Pascal recently spoke of the pain of going clean-shaven for his role in “Wonder Woman 1984,” which came out in 2020.
“I was so appalled by the way I look. I loved the movie, but I was so appalled by the way that I looked that I’ve never gone back,” he said earlier this month in a video for LADBibles’ “Agree to Disagree” series.
Pascal said he would do it again if a movie called for it, but only if “it were completely necessary.”

“I grow such shit facial hair, but if I were to shave it all off ― I really look very [Pascal grimaces]. Strongly disagree with a clean-shaven me,” the actor said.
