Lawrence told the magazine about a poignant moment between the two at last year’s Academy Awards, when the “Hunger Games” star was on stage as Stone was announced as the winner of Best Actress.
“In true Emily form, as soon as we got offstage and ran into the bathroom to scream and cry,” Lawrence told Vogue about the aftermath of the win, using Stone’s real first name. “I whispered, ‘Two-time best-actress winner,’ and she replied, ‘I feel like that’s bad, though.’”
At just 35, Stone joined an elite group of actresses who had also won two Academy Awards in the same category by the same age, including Meryl Streep, Hilary Swank, Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Taylor, Bette Davis, Luise Rainer and Olivia de Havilland.
Stone won her first Oscar in 2017 for her performance in “La La Land.”
Lawrence and Stone have spoken about their friendship ― and Stone’s anxious tendencies ― before in a wide-ranging interview with Elle magazine.
Lawrence was tasked with interviewing her friend back in 2018, when they touched on a time Stone “felt more anxious” than she ever had.

“Yeah, when I was seven. That’s when I started having panic attacks, which I’ve talked about pretty extensively,” Stone shared.
“I think your wiring is just kind of what you are,” she added. “My mom always says that I was born with my nerves outside of my body. But I’m lucky for the anxiety, because it also makes me high-energy.”
