Kirsten Dunst just corrected your pronunciation of her name.
Since 1989, Dunst has been steadily captivating audiences with every role. But in a Wednesday interview with Town & Country, the actor was asked how to properly say her name — and revealed that people often fumble it.
“I mean, everyone messes up my name, so I give up,” she admitted.
Despite the frequent mispronunciations, Dunst said she doesn’t hold it against anyone. She shared that she answers to a full squad of names, from “Kristen” to various versions of “Kirsten,” but isn’t in the business of “blaming people.”
The actor went on to share a behind-the-scenes anecdote from across the pond, where they also get it wrong.
“In England, they don’t really say my name right,” she said. “On the last set, everyone was saying my name wrong, but there were Swedish people, people from Hungary. You just give up.”
When the “Bring It On” actor was asked how to pronounce her name, she revealed: “Kyeer-sten.”
The actor also shared that she’d rather attend dinner than watch herself in her own films.
“I often do the [red] carpet, and then go to dinner while everyone’s watching the movie, and then come back,” she said.
