And just like that, Kristin Davis is revisiting the world of “Sex and the City,” and the moments that didn’t exactly spark joy.
Davis, forever etched in fans’ hearts as Charlotte York of both the original series and the HBO Max revival “And Just Like That…,” recently revisited one of the more cringe-inducing shoots from the show’s early days on a Monday episode of her podcast “Are You a Charlotte?” The episode? “The Chicken Dance” from the show’s second season.
“This episode is kind of up there in the pantheon of very, very difficult episodes to film,” she recalled.
During the episode, Davis’ character is playing a bridesmaid at a friend’s wedding — and in true Charlotte fashion, she’s swept away in the romance of it all. But, it wouldn’t be an episode of “SATC” without a reality check. Amid the whirlwind of love, Charlotte finds herself entangled with one of the groomsmen. Precious moments pass, and the show cuts to his father asking Davis’ character for a dance — a moment that required him to “grab her ass.”
“Victoria [Hochberg], director, is just yelling at this man. She’s far away, across the room, and I feel like she might have had a bullhorn. But she’s like, Harder! Harder! Bigger! Grab her ass!” Davis said.
“And there’s a close-up of him grabbing my butt. How embarrassing,” Davis remembered, recalling the moment when the scene’s director gave the awkward cue.

She went on to explain that her reaction was her “real mad face” because she was “mad” she had to perform the act.
“I’m mad that I had to do it,” Davis said. “I’m mad that this man had to grab my butt. It’s, like, mortifying, you know?”
A moment that Davis said the “humiliation factor” was at an all-time “high.”
