Week 2 begins on Kentucky Football‘s calendar, with Ole Miss coming to town for the opening SEC game on Saturday. Today, the Wildcats start preparations for the Rebels at the Joe Craft Football Training Center, plus we’ll hear comments from Mark Stoops to kick off Ole Miss Week.
Many operations close for Labor Day, but KentuckySportsRadio.com eats, sleeps, breathes, and blogs football, so there are no days off around here. (Happy Labor Day, though.) Find a rundown of the day’s activities below as we get ready for the next game on Kentucky’s schedule.
Monday with Mark Stoops
Monday Press Conference
Mark Stoops will hold his weekly press conference to share his last remarks on the win over Toledo. Stoops had Sunday to review the film, and we’ll hear his final analysis of the opener and what he sees in the challenge ahead, hosting Ole Miss at Kroger Field.
Stoops will likely be asked about Mi’quise Humphrey-Grace’s injured ankle and Jamarion Wilcox’s suspension for a violation of team rules, too. Stay with KentuckySportsRadio.com for any and all football updates today, including the new depth chart.

SEC Nation passed on Lexington for Week 2
Kentucky and Ole Miss will play the only SEC-on-SEC game in Week 2, so it was presumed that SEC Nation would broadcast from Lexington for the first league game of the season. Those presumptions were wrong. Yesterday, the network announced that it will take its Saturday morning pregame show to Columbia, Missouri, for Missouri versus Kansas in the Border War.
One more Week 1 game
Tonight, the final game on college football’s Week 1 schedule will play out on ESPN, featuring the hottest couple in sports. Bill and Jordon’s North Carolina Tar Heels host TCU at 8 p.m. in the collegiate version of Monday Night Football.
AP Top 25 delayed this week
Because of tonight’s game, the AP Top 25 poll, which traditionally updates on Sundays, will be released tomorrow instead. Kentucky won’t be ranked, so don’t get your hopes up.
Kentucky Volleyball let victory slip away against No. 1 Nebraska
No. 7 Kentucky Volleyball played a thriller on Sunday afternoon, going five sets with No. 1 Nebraska in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. However, The Wildcats were on the losing end of the match (26-24, 25-20, 19-25, 23-25, 8-15) after dropping three straight sets to blow a 2-0 lead.
Unforced errors kept Kentucky from finishing the job after coming from behind to win the first two sets. Nebraska won the decisive fifth set, 15-8, to clinch the victory in front of a national audience on ABC.
