Former French president Nicolas Sarkozy’s request to be released from prison pending appeal will be heard by a Paris court Monday less than five weeks after the ex-head of state began serving a five-year prison sentence for conspiring to raise campaign funds from former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi.
