Hollywood notables and political figures from both sides of the aisle have taken to social media to share their reactions and tributes to Charlie Kirk, who was killed on Wednesday at age 31.
The MAGA political activist and co-founder of the conservative organization Turning Point USA was fatally struck in the neck by an assassin’s bullet during an event at Utah Valley University, hosted by his nonprofit political organization. He was discussing mass shootings in the United States at the moment he was shot.
President Donald Trump wrote on Truth Social, announcing his death, “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”
After it was reported that Kirk had been shot, Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt shared on X, “Praying for Charlie Kirk right now, for his wife and young children, for our country. We need God’s grace. God help us.”
Former President Barack Obama also wrote on social media, “We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children.”
Late night host Jimmy Kimmel shared on Instagram, “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human? On behalf of my family, we send love to the Kirks and to all the children, parents and innocents who fall victim to senseless gun violence.”
Actor and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, former Vice President Kamala Harris, former President Joe Biden and former Vice President Mike Pence were also among those sending praying to Kirk’s family and loved ones. Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika Frantza, and their two young children.
