The Department of Health and Human Services said it plans to terminate contracts and withdraw funding for certain vaccine development efforts targeting respiratory viruses such as COVID-19 and influenza. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced in a statement released on Tuesday that 22 mRNA-based vaccine projects, totaling $500 million, will be discontinued.
