Jack Schlossberg hit back at Ryan Murphy after the filmmaker and director said it was “odd” that Schlossberg was upset about Murphy’s new show about John F. Kennedy, Jr. and Carolyn Bessette.
Schlossberg, Kennedy’s nephew, took to Instagram on Wednesday, in which he posted a screenshot of Murphy’s quote, along with the text overlay, “RYAN MURPHY: SAY IT TO MY FACE.”
Schlossberg then wrote in the photo’s caption that some of his earliest memories are with his uncle.
“My earliest memories are of John calling me Jackolatern and ‘the nudist,’ picking me up from school, his Pontiac convertible,” Schlossberg wrote. “I remember being the ring bearer at his wedding and the day he died. I remember Wyclef singing at his funeral. More memories are passed down from stories —like the time he locked himself out of a car in an intersection and asked the guy screaming at him if he could borrow a golf club to smash the window to get the keys, and then did it.”
Schlossberg continued, saying that Murphy is “making millions” off Kennedy and not giving any of it back to the causes Kennedy was passionate about.
“It’s odd that you’d question my standing to defend my own uncle who’s not around to smack you… though you’d probably like that, wouldn’t you,” Schlossberg wrote.
Neither Murphy or Schlossberg’s reps immediately responded to a request for comment.
It’s not the first time Schlossberg has been outspoken about Murphy’s latest project, which is part of his scripted anthology series “American Love Story.” The project is based on the romantic relationship between Kennedy and Bessette, who both died in a plane crash in 1999. Last week, Schlossberg called the project “grotesque.”

“Lately, my news feed has been filled with pictures of my uncle, John F. Kennedy Jr., a great man,” Schlossberg said on his Instagram Stories on June 19, according to People. “For those wondering whether his family was ever consulted, or has anything to do with, the new shows being made about him, the answer is no. And there’s really not much we can do.”
During Sunday’s episode of Newsom’s podcast, Murphy said he was not prepared for the intense reaction and it was an “odd, dark moment” for him.
“The thing I was not prepared for was the Kennedy firestorm, which I thought was very strange because nobody’s read anything,” Murphy said. “It’s very sympathetic. It’s a love story. It’s not a takedown.”
