Three people have died after a light plane crashed just after take-off on Saturday morning near Wollongong in New South Wales.
The plane took off from Shellharbour airport at about 10am before crashing and catching fire, NSW police said in a statement.
“Upon impacting with the ground, the aircraft caught on fire which was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW,” a spokesperson said.
“Three people are confirmed deceased. There are no reports of any other people being injured.”
Emergency services are now at the airfield and the Australian Transport Safety Bureau have been notified.
