Taylor Swift is remembering the time her fiancé, Travis Kelce, mistook his “favorite director” for someone else at one of her Eras Tour concerts.
The “Fate of Ophelia” singer has revealed that Kelce accidentally confused Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna Eberstein, for Greta Gerwig while they were singing and dancing in the VIP tent during one of Swift’s London Eras Tour dates back in June.
Swift explained to host Seth Meyers on Tuesday’s episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers that she receives a list of all the celebrities who will attend each show and told Kelce that Gerwig would be there.
“He was like, ‘Oh my God, I really want to tell her how funny I thought Barbie was,'” she recalled. “And I’m like, ‘You absolutely should. She’s the sweetest, giggliest person to tell that you like their work. You’re gonna love her.'”

The couple, who announced their engagement in August, later debriefed on everything that went down in the tent on the car ride home.
“And [Kelce’s] like, ‘This was the most fun tent. Like, everybody was amazing. Like, Tom Cruise is going crazy. Liam [Hemsworth] is just as fun as Chris [Hemsworth], and Liam’s fiancée, Gabrielle, is so cool! And Ashton [Kutcher] was there and Mila [Kunis]!'” Swift recounted. “‘Oh my god, Hugh Grant was there, and I got to tell him how much I love his movies, and he was so cool! Everyone was amazing!'”
However, Swift noticed that Kelce didn’t bring up one person. “And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, that’s awesome. You didn’t mention Greta. Did you meet Greta?'” she recalled asking. “He’s like, ‘Yeah, um, I did. I think I told an annoying joke that she’s heard too many times.'”
When pressed on what he said, Kelce told Swift, “Well, I walked up to her and I was like, ‘I love Barbie. I’m just Ken, too.’ And then I pointed to you.'”
Kelce explained that Gerwig — who was actually Eberstein — was “really polite” about the situation and smiled but that she “didn’t say anything” in response to his joke, which Swift thought was strange.

To make matters even weirder, Kelce went on to recall that Grant and Gerwig were “really, really close” all evening, sharing “inside jokes” to the point that the NFL star almost thought that they were “soulmates.”
As they continued discussing the evening, Swift said she began looking for footage of the VIP tent on her phone. “I’m seeing all over the internet, it’s just videos of Travis dancing with Greta all night like they’re best friends,” she said.
And I’m like, ‘Travis, here’s a video of you with Greta. It feels like she thought the joke was funny?’ And he goes, ‘Oh that’s… that’s not Greta.'”
Which led Swift to a very important question. “Is there any chance at all, baby, that you complimented Hugh Grant’s wife, Anna, on her movie Barbie, said ‘I’m just Ken too,’ and she politely nodded because she didn’t have the heart to tell you she didn’t direct it?” she asked at the time. “And is there any chance the people that look like soulmates are Hugh Grant and his soulmate?”
Meyers then revealed that he had both good news and bad news for Swift. “The bad news for you is [Kelce] has face blindness,” Meyers joked. “And the good news is he can recognize true love! So at least he saw soulmates!”
