A London derby highlights Saturday’s Premier League slate as Tottenham Hotspur visit West Ham in a battle for local bragging rights. Spurs look rejuvenated under the new leadership of Thomas Frank and have big new arrivals to look forward to in Xavi Simons and Randal Kolo Muani, while Graham Potter is fighting for his job as the Hammers try to stave off relegation. The match is also a homecoming of sorts for Mohammed Kudus, who joined Tottenham from West Ham over the summer.
Kickoff from London Stadium is set for 12:30 p.m. ET. Tottenham are +110 favorites (wager $100 to win $110) on the 90-minute money line in the latest West Ham vs. Tottenham odds, while West Ham are +250 underdogs. A draw is priced at +225, and the over/under for total goals scored is 2.5. Before locking in any West Ham vs. Tottenham picks, you need to see what SportsLine’s Jon Eimer has to say. Why Tottenham should win
Tottenham started off this season doing the most Spurs thing ever. They took down the giants Manchester City 2-0 and then immediately lost to Bournemouth 1-0 the week after. This is a team that over the years has made a name for itself by being entirely unpredictable. The thing that makes this team so excited to watch, and why I think they’ll be able to take down West Ham, is their offense. This team is loaded with not only amazing starting attackers, but solid strikers off the bench. The likes of Brennan Johnson, Richarlison and Mohammed Kudus will lead the charge for the better part of 70 minutes, while Dominic Solanke is one of the best super-subs the league has to offer. This team put two goals past Manchester City and three past Burnley, and I expect them to return to their goal scoring ways.
West Ham’s poor international break timing
Two weeks into the season, West Ham looked absolutely awful. They were dominated in their season opener by newly promoted Sunderland, conceded five to Chelsea and lost to Wolves in the EFL Cup. This is a team that every single news outlet in Europe was saying had to prepare for a relegation battle after just two matchdays. The Hammers proceeded to silence the critics a bit after they beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 their last match before break. Now, after finally getting momentum, they’ve had to wait during a break they didn’t want and didn’t need. The international break is a gift to some, but a curse to others. West Ham will now have to rediscover the momentum they’ve struggled to find against one of the best offenses in the entire league.
